August 20, 2008 - Dealing with Disabilities

We travel the region interviewing people who are creating programs and services for those of us with disabilities. We'll look at the new Friendship Cottage, and adult day care facility that has opened in Blue Hill. We'll also learn more about ways that people with disabilities are changing the towns around them.

September 17, 2008 - Child and Adolescent Health

A great deal happens physically, mentally and socially during childhood and adolescence, the sometimes chaotic transition from childhood to adulthood. Join our dialogue about cultural and environmental factors influencing and influenced by growing up in Maine. We'll look at issues faced by children, adolescents, their peers and families with Dr. Jonathan Fanburg.

October 15, 2008 - Bundle Up: Staying Warm and Healthy

Record oil prices have thrown Maine into a crisis. We can't do anything to change the market price of oil in the short run, so conservation and alternative heating systems are our only options. Join us to talk about healthy ways to stay warm, including improving insulation, using woodstoves and solar alternatives.

November 19, 2008 - Health and Wildlife

Our relationship to nature defines who we are and will have profound impacts on future generations. Eastern Maine is defined by our natural resources and heritage, but our desire to be close to nature presents challenges for wildlife and for us. Join us to talk about health and ethics of our wildlands. We'll look at programs to protect and restore the health of wild animals as well long range strategies to guide development and protect our natural habitats.
