October, 2005 Common Health: Healthy Buildings
On our October program, we looked at winter approaching, and the fact that Maine people will soon be spending more time inside homes, schools, and other buildings. We asked questions like: are our indoor building environments healthy for us and for our children; what are the effects on our health of the chemicals used in carpets, furniture, building materials and even cleaning solvents in our homes, schools, and public buildings; are there potential adverse health effects; if so, what can we do to minimize them?
This short report featured architect Bruce Stahnke discussing how to minimize indoor air pollution from building materials when remodeling an old home or building a new one.
